Overview
Our Client wanted an iOS app developed to allow the site supervisors (of their construction company) to fill in pre-defined forms and generate reports to be audited by their managers. The client wanted the app to be accessed by both the managers and the supervisors who report to them. The client also wanted to integrate Push-notifications, E-Signature, PDF Conversions and Network Printing into the application. They also wanted the ability to take pictures using the in-built camera, upload documents/images, reviewing past reports.
The Challenge
Ability for the users to digitally sign reports
Ability to export the data entered by the site supervisor to PDF format
Ability to scan for printers in the device's Network and to Print
The Solution
We developed an iOS app using Xcode and Objective C, with an array of third party open source libraries like PPS e-signature library, FPDF etc., to support the required functionality. We provided various forms, where the supervisors could enter the necessary details after a detailed inspection of a particular site. The supervisors were then able to digitally sign the PDF report created by the app and email them to their manager from within the app. The manager then gets notifications about the reports, which they could view inside the app. They could also print any of these reports, if necessary, using a printer connected to the same network.
